1) It was invented by a guy named Thomas Edison in 1877, and it's been used to play music ever since.

2) The first one that was made was called the "Edison" and it cost $100.

3) There are currently over 100 different types of trumpets out there. They're all pretty much the same except for their tone and how they sound when you blow into them.

4) The word "trumpet" comes from a Dutch word "trompet", which was a military instrument that looked something like a large horn. Musicians started using the word when referring to this new type of horn they made.

5) The first real symphony that used trumpets was the 1882 Paris version of "A Hero's Mass". The composer was Adolphe Joseph Adam, and he also wrote the music for the first opera that used trumpets, called "Guillaume Tell".

6) The only person who is known to have invented multiple instruments is John Shore, and he made the first three flutes, the first military bugle, the firstife Pearl handled pistol, the first hunting horn, the first snare drum, the first set of tongs and the first octave mandolin.

7) There are three different sizes of trumpets: Alto, Tenor and Bass. They all get their names from the size of the person who is usually plays them.

8) The highest known note that a trumpet has ever been made to play is 134. That was by a bass trumpet called the "Horn Band Instrument" that was built especially for the 1934 German National Festival.

9) The biggest band that used trumpets was the "Hamburg Military Orchestra" in the 1930's. They had over 40 trumpets, trying to imitate the sound of the "Prague Military Orchestra".

10) The most recordings that have been made on a single trumpet: 26 by the New York Philharmonic in 1996.

11) The most concerts that have been performed on one instrument: 500 by the Moscow State Symphony in the 1940's.

12) The most music that has ever been written for a single instrument: over 17000 pieces by the London Philharmonic in 1999.

13) The most famous person who has ever played the trumpet: Louis Armstrong.

14) The best known person who has ever owned a trumpet: Louis Armstrong.

15) The most famous person to have played it in a movie: Clarence whistleblowers in "Whiplash" (2010).

16) The most famous person to have played it in a cartoon: Batman once played one in a scene from "The Dark Knight" (2008).

17) The most famous person to have played it in a video game: Wario from "WarioWare Touched" (2008).

18) The most famous person to have played it at the Lincoln Memorial: Clarence performed this on his way to testify before the Civil Rights Congress in the 1960's.

19) The most famous person to have played it at the Great Sphinx of Giza: Louis Armstrong.

20) The most famous person to have played it at the Battle of Trafalgar: Nobody knows. It's possible the British Royal Marines played it in an attempt to cheer themselves up after the horrific injuries they had received at the hands of the French.

21) The most famous person to have played it at the Alamo: Nobody knows. It's possible that wild west gunslingers played it to calm themselves down after heavy gunfights.
