Georgetown cupcakes nutrition facts

Artificial georgetown cupcakes nutrition facts

1) They're made with real butter and sugar, not margarine or vegetable oil!

2) The name of the company is Georgetown Cupcake Co., but they've been around since 1925!

3) Their motto is "We make everything from scratch!"

4) They have a store in Georgetown, which you can visit if you want to see for yourself!

5) If you order one of their delicious treats, they'll even put your name on it!

THE FACTS: 1. These are the best cupcakes I've ever tasted. The frosting is so light and fluffy, the cake so moist and delicious. These cupcakes do NOT taste like they're "made with margarine." They taste like cupcakes should taste.

2. Their "history" is actually much longer than 1925. The company's official website says the first store opened in 1987, which is likely when the cupcakes were first introduced to the public. The original recipe was brought to the U.S. by an Indian immigrant.

3. They definitely use lots of "natural ingredients," but every single one of those ingredients is used for the cupcake's benefit, not as a replacement for something less healthy. The frosting is made with milk and vegetable oil, the cake batter is sugar-based, etc.

4. They "put your name on it?" No, that's not how it works. You don't get a small cup of frosting, a swatch of cake and a few sprinkles to decorate your own cup. No, they give you exactly what you ordered.

Not TRUTH: 1. Not exactly. These cupcakes are a lot moister than other cup cakes I've tried. The cake isn't dry and goes very well with the frosting, which is smoother than you'd think possible.

2. They probably do use margarine, or some other kind of shortening, to help the cupcakes be more easily mass produced. But the result is definitely NOT a cup of frosting and a piece of cake in the bottom.

3. All of their frosting is made with milk and vegetable oil (or some other kind of oil). The cake batter is made from sugar, eggs, flour and other basic ingredients.

4. No, you don't get to decorate them. But they're cute and shaped like little cups, so it's hard to mess them up.

5. You can indeed put your name on a cup. You just have to fill out a little card and pay a small fee.

Not TRUTH: 1. These are delicious. The cake is light and airy, not overly sweet, and pairs well with the frosting. The texture is very nice and definitely on par with expensive cupcakes you'd find at a bakery.

2. Yes, there is milk in the frosting and vegetable oil in the cupcakes. This is standard practice for cupcakes and equally disappointing.

3. The cupcakes are much smaller than others I've had, about the size of a large marble. But I really have no problem with that; in fact I prefer them that way. It makes for a much more impressive cupcake when it's topped with a giant, elaborate frosting and decorated with a few sprinkles.

4. The frosting is actually a little different from your average butter cream, in that it's thicker and more dense. Personally I prefer it this way. However, some people (such as my mom) prefer the butter cream to be thicker and not as dense.

5. The cake is surprisingly good. Usually cakes from scratch are hit or miss, but this is a hit.

6. Not true at all. You pay a flat rate of $3.95 for "the works" which includes the cupcake, frosting and sprinkles. You can also add other toppings for a small additional fee.
